Fully Restored Victorian Ladies Vanity Box

This really good quality vanity travel box features beautiful burr walnut veneers with coromandel edge banding.

There is an inlaid brass crest with engraved initials and below it has the date Nov 15th 1885.

It has a working Bramah patent lock with key.

The inside reveals the silver plated lock , drawer handles and hinges with fine engraving.

The assortment of bottles and dishes also have engraved plated silver lids. The central area has a tray with various tools and scissors ( two of the original scissors are missing, with one replacement. The mother of pearl knife has a broken blade)

The interior is lined in deep blue leather and rich blue ruffled velvet. In the lid a secret catch releases the velvet pad which has a mirror on the reverse. Once removed there is a secret letter holder.

The front section of the box folds down revealing two drawers . One having a leather writing surface above a padded area for jewellery.

The underside has a replacement green baize cloth.

Despite having no makers stamp this has clearly been made by one of the very best makers of the period.
